Patent
Patent is an exclusive right granted by the Government to the applicant for his disclosed invention of
industrial product or process. It is essential that the invention must be novel, inventive and
susceptible of industrial application. i.e it should be new, non-obvious, useful and patentable as per
the patentability criteria laid down in the national law. A patent offers technical solution to a
technical problem. The Government provides legal protection to the inventions for a limited term
i.e. 20 years from the date of filing or date of priority for applicant’s invention. The Government
gives the territorial right for the invention in the country where it is granted.
The patent owner may give permission to, or license other parties to use the invention on mutually
agreed terms. The owner may also sell the right to the invention to someone else, who will then
become the new owner of the patent. Once a patent expires, the protection ends, and an invention
enters the public domain; that is, anyone can commercially exploit the invention without infringing
the patent.
Patents are the documents which require rigorous formalities, and present both technical and legal
challenges. The firm has experienced professionals with technical qualification and legal skills to
work to protect the rights of new inventions and created materials.
